Faculty members are responsible for the preparation and implementation of assigned courses. The college expects faculty members to expend about three-quarters of their time in teaching responsibilities.

• Able to teach 15 hours per week of courses in Anatomy and Physiology and Biology 
• Develops and teaches appropriate online courses 
• Maintains a minimum of three office hours per week 
• Collaborates on the selection of textbooks 
• Participates in curriculum development and revision, including identifying learning objectives, assessment and program review 
• Assists in development of an effective means of evaluating and establishing clearly defined grading standards and procedures 
• Curricula responsibility, including writing learning outcomes, assessment and program review 
• Communicates and executes classroom plans effectively 
• Clarifies to students the expectations and standards for all assigned assessments 
• Advises students and shows concern for their academic goals and progress 
• Responds to College's needs, adheres to departmental and College policies and assists students in course work and planning of programs 
• Pursues professional development and increased knowledge in teaching through avenues such as self-study, workshops and conferences 
• Participates in the College governance process through division-level tasks, participates in College recruitment activities and College-wide committees, etc.

Education:

• Master’s degree in biology or related discipline 
• Doctorate preferred

Experience: 

• At least two years of experience teaching 200-level college laboratory science courses including Anatomy and Physiology I and II
• Experience with WCAG/accessibility compliance a plus

Competencies and Skills: 

• Ability to teach Anatomy and Physiology and General Biology 
• Demonstrated teaching excellence with diverse student populations 
• Ability to deliver course instruction on the ground in the classroom, remotely through Zoom or a comparable video conferencing software and online through Blackboard or a comparable LMS 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite  
• Ability to teach introductory chemistry a plus

Terms of Employment: 

• This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
