Position Description

The Division of Bioethics and Palliative Care, Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington, in partnership with the Division of Developmental Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington, and the University of Washington Department of Pediatrics Residency Program are recruiting a full time Assistant Professor without tenure (commensurate with experience and qualifications) on the clinician-scholar track.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors MD $12,237.83 - $18,356.83 per month ($146,854 - $220,282 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Clinical responsibilities will include providing in-patient and outpatient palliative care service and call, as well as outpatient neurodevelopmental clinic and limited neurodevelopmental call coverage by phone for provider and family questions. Academic responsibilities will include the role of Associate Program Director of the UWSOM Department of Pediatrics Residency Program, focusing on Recruitment.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Anticipated start date is September 2023

Qualifications

Applicants should have MD or DO, or MD/DO combined (or foreign equivalent) and completion of a pediatric residency or fellowship in Bioethics or another relevant discipline (or foreign equivalent).

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
